That afternoon the girls and I headed back to Iowa with my parents to try a "take two" on a relaxing week at the farm. If you don't remember, we tried this a while back and spent the whole week sick with the flu. This time around we were feeling much better!
Fresh Air
A couple of the days were really nice - warm and sunny. We took advantage of the weather and headed outside to let the girls burn off some energy. They both had a great time! It always amazes me how easy it is to entertain kids outside. There is just something magical about the great outdoors!
Adrienne was so funny when we got outside the first day. She just kept screaming, happy screams, but screaming.
Adrienne has recently become an expert at walking. She loved walking around and around and around. She even held her own against the bumpy grass.
Animals
Of course Morgan wanted to see the cows, sheep and Peno the Llama. As you can imagine this is a favorite part of going to Grandma and Grandpa Rhodes' house. Judging by Adrienne's screams of excitement when she saw the animals, this will quickly become a favorite of hers as well.
Shearing Sheep
The last day we were there Dave Miller came to shear the sheep. Of course we wanted Morgan to be able to see this process. I always like her to see how things really are on the farm. It is a little different then how it is pictured on Caillou. :)
I always liked watching this when I was little. Morgan was really fascinated by it too and of course had a lot of questions.

Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Eldon
We were able to make a couple visits to my Rhodes grandparents. They love seeing the girls and Morgan seems to have fun too. Morgan is very into all the girly things right now (lip gloss, fancy dresses ...) The week we were in Iowa she was particularly obsessed with some pink sparkly lip gloss that she received for her birthday. She was always wanting to put more on, and she wanted everyone around her to join in the fun. Of course the lip gloss went with us to visit Grandma and Grandpa. The funny part is that when she asked them if they wanted to put some on, they said they would - both Grandma AND Grandpa! It was so funny to see them both sitting there with their shiny lips. Morgan LOVED it!
I guess once you're 91 years young you might as well live a little. :)
The Glove
Adreinne's obsession of the week was with this old leather glove. She found it in the dress-up things. Someone decided to put it on her hand and that was it - she was in love.
Several times this week we would go looking for her after hearing her squawking in the other room to find her trying her hardest to get the lid off the container that held her beloved glove. We would take the lid off and she would flash us a huge smile as she reached in for the glove.
I like this picture because it shows a face she is making a lot right now. Not sure what it's all about, but it's funny. It reminds me of an old man without his teeth in. :) The cutest little old man you have ever seen.Uncle Chris
We were able to spend quite a bit of time with Chris which is always fun. For those of you who don't know him, he is the funny uncle that makes faces at you from across the table. Last year Morgan was a little intimidated by him, but now she loves him! He is so great with her. He plays with her and teases her, but never takes it too far.

The day Grandma and Grandpa put on Morgan's lip gloss she was informed by both my dad and Chris that they will NOT put on lip gloss because it is for girls.
At the end of the week Chris was over for supper after work and still had his dirty Cubs hat on. Morgan asked him again if he wanted any lip gloss. He agreed to putting the lip gloss on if Morgan would wear the dirty Cubs hat. You must understand she doesn't like things that are dirty and we all know that her Daddy is a White Sox fan and wouldn't be thrilled about her sporting a Cubs hat. So here are the pictures documenting the events.
I don't know when kids are able to actually "pump" on the swing. I feel like Morgan is old enough to get it. However my lessons don't seem to be getting us anywhere.
