Hocking Hills

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Hocking Hills with Dave's family. We did this a couple of years ago, but this time around was a little different since we have added 3 new faces to the group. Sarah did most of the work planning and found us a great place to stay. Thanks Sarah! All we had to do was show up.

Actually showing up proved to be harder then we were expecting. Adrienne had a rough time on the way down, which meant we all had a rough time. She ended up cutting 2 molars over the weekend which included one night of a lot of crying and not much sleep, for anyone.

Enough about teeth. We had a great weekend! We all did some hiking. The guys headed out fishing while we took the kids to the local beach. And we all did a lot of hanging out, relaxing and enjoying being with family.

The trail we hiked was nice. Morgan LOVED it and was our little leader. That isn't surprising since our groups included 3 pregos, Grandma and Grandpa (no offense :)), and 3 dads carrying toddlers. She had the most energy by far, but we all enjoyed the hike!

The cousins had a great time playing. Dave and I both grew up having a lot of fun with our cousins and it's something we want our kids to experience too. So it's fun to see the kids getting to an age where they really have fun together. They did a pretty good job of playing and sharing without too many squabbles. There were a few times that toys were put in time-out to bring peace to the room. :)

These two shoe obsessed girls were too cute. Grace spent a good part of the weekend "stealing" everyone's shoes. Here she was nice enough to share her shoes with Adrienne. :)

Lake Logan isn't the most beautiful beach, but there was sand and water and the kids loved it!

Morgan loved the beach last summer, so I assumed that this year would be no different. She didn't let me down. She loved running through the water, digging in the sand and making mud soup.

Adrienne has always put things in her mouth more then Morgan ever did. I was nervous about going to the beach with her because I was afraid she would try to eat the sand. I try to be a relaxed mom and let the kids explore, but I'm not sure I would have been able to deal with Adrienne eating sand. Turns out my worrying was all for nothing. The few times sand did accidentally make it to her mouth she was coming to me for help. This was a nice surprise since this was only the first of several beach trips in the plans for this summer.

Both the girls really loved the water. It's wonderful to watch your kids be so happy and entertained with so little.


All the little ones like to be active, but big adventures aren't really an option. So we kept them busy with little walks around our cabin, sidewalk chalk and bubbles.

Like I said before, I think the best part was just hanging out in the cabin, enjoying our family.

All in all we had a great weekend! We all stayed safe (thanks for not falling in to the lake this time Steve :). We all enjoyed good food along with good laughs. And maybe the most important part of a vacation - we all had our fair share of great naps!

Swim Class

We survived another round of swim lessons! This was Morgan's 3rd round and Adrienne's 2nd. They have class 3 times a week for 3 weeks. It makes for some crazy weeks, but I think it's well worth the craziness. Their instructor is wonderful. She focuses on safety and getting the kids comfortable with the water. Her style has worked well so far with both the girls. They both LOVE the water!

Of course a parent needs to go in with Adrienne's class. A huge thank you to Dave for going in with Adrienne every class. I'm never super excited about putting on a swimsuit, and especially when I'm prego. He gives me a hard time about it, but I know he loves that time with his little girl.



Adrienne really loved the water this round (especially on the warm water days). She does a mean frog kick and didn't even fuss when Dave or the instructor put her face in the water. What a girl!





Morgan was ready for the next level. She was our big girl - going to her class without a parent! She loved it. She looked so big sitting on the edge with the other kids. They started every class with a song. Of course the different verses had them doing little things to get them wet. It was cute.

They worked on putting their faces in the water and going under. Morgan did really well with this. This "skill" cuts out a lot of whining during bath time. Score!
She also did a great job floating. By the end she was floating on her back all by herself!

These are just a couple of things they worked on. Morgan did a great job and can't wait to use all her improved water skills at Terri's (our neighbor) pool.

The last class the instructor brought all the kids goody bags. Here are Morgan and her friend Addie sporting their new "movie star" shades.

So here we are at the end of another round of swim class. They girls loved it and did a great job. Now we have the whole summer to practice in the warm sun. I can't wait!

Second Supper

We usually try to eat supper together as a family. However the other night Dave got home from work later then usual, I think he actually was stopping at the grocery store for us - thanks. Anyways, by the time he got home we were finished eating and the girls were both down from the table and playing. As soon as he sat down to eat there were two little girls by his side asking for some of his supper.

It made me laugh because I remember doing the same thing with my dad. I even remember sitting on the table mooching the best parts of his supper. I guess my mom was nicer then I am. I'm not sure I'd let the girls actually sit on the table.

As you can see they were both pretty proud of themselves for the extra goods they were able to score from their dad. :)

"Here Mama!"

I turned around the other day to find this.

For those of you who haven't been to our house, the TP trail is leading straight to the bathroom. The best part is it is still connected to the roll. I got to the bathroom just in time to see the roll come to a stop ... at the end of the roll. You can just imagine the pile of paper that was there waiting for me.

You just can't make this stuff up!
